INGREDIENTS
It’s easy to take our skin for granted, but it is our
largest organ and the only organ that is exposed at all times
to the environment. Much of what we apply to our skin
is absorbed directly into our bloodstream's. BATHGAL is
dedicated to ensuring that what we put on our skin is healthy
and beneficial not only for our outsides, but also for our
insides!
What we use:
NATURAL & ORGANIC INGREDIENTS! Did
you know that the term “natural” can be applied
to products that contain only 5% natural ingredients? We
strive to use as many organic and natural ingredients as possible.
Here are some of the ingredients used in creating BATHGAL
products
Organic Oils – Jojoba, Avocado, Rosehip Seed, Coconut, Olive
Organic Shea Butter
Wax – Beeswax, Rose wax, Candelilla wax – This
wax is derived from the leaves of the small Candelilla shrub. It
is commonly used in lip balms and lotion bars and chewing gum.
Water and Rose Water
Organic Aloe Vera Juice
Baking Soda (Sodium Bicarbonate)
Citric Acid - This weak organic acid found in citrus fruits
is very safe for use on skin. It is a natural preservative
and occurs in the metabolism of almost all living things. It
serves as an environmentally benign cleaning agent and acts
as an antioxidant. Ever eaten a sour patch kid? Citric
acid provides the sour.
Essential Oils – These natural fragrances come from
extracts of plants, trees, fruit and flowers. Many essential
oils are known for their healing benefits to body, mind and
spirit. We have carefully chosen our essential oils for
both their lovely fragrance and healing properties.
Dead Sea Salts - Detoxifying and filled with minerals our bodies crave.
Clays - Rhassoul, Bentonite, French Green and Kaolin to detoxify and purify the skin and body.
Truth in labeling is extremely important to BATHGAL. That’s
why we list any synthetic ingredients used in our products
as well.
Emulsifying Vegetable Wax – This wax enables the blending
of water and oils to create lotions and creams. Derived originally
from plant material, the wax is created through a chemical
process. We use it in our body lotion and Whip’D Cream
in the smallest possible quantities. At these small percentages,
this emulsifying wax has been tested as completely safe for
use on the skin and is a common ingredient in natural care
products. Although we have tried alternatives to emulsifying
vegetable wax, we feel that this is our best option for creating
a wonderful, long lasting product.
Fragrance Oils – Currently only our Lotta Lip Carmel
tinted balm contains fragrance oil. Fragrance oils are
synthetic (man-made) and the most commonly used ingredient
to create beauty product scents. Although we prefer to use
essential oils, there are a limited number of fragrances that
are naturally derived from plants, trees and flowers. We will
clearly indicate if we use fragrance oil rather than an essential
oil in each product so you can make an informed choice.
We don’t use:
HARMFUL CHEMICALS! There is heated
debate over which chemicals are safe and which aren’t
safe. Guess what? None of these chemicals are necessary
to create personal care products. Why are they used? (1)
They are inexpensive, (2) they have a long shelf life, and
(3) they make products look and feel “right” (i.e.,
less greasy, quickly absorbed, long-lasting scent, pretty colors
that do not occur in nature).
Some of the commonly used chemicals that have been identified
as potentially harmful include:
- Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (also called Sodium Laureth Sulfate)
- Propylene Glycol
- Parabens – Most widely used preservative in the beauty
industry
- Cocoamide Diethanolamine
No debates here on whether these chemicals cause long-term
damage to kidneys and livers or are carcinogenic. We
don’t use them.
